I have used this app for quite some time. it is like a little sibling to DEVONthink and DEVONthink Pro. In fact, I use DEVONthink Pro as well. The interface of all these apps are quite slick, and I’m shocked to see such an incredible price on this fine piece of software. If you ever need to do research for a job or school, you may just find this little gem to be indispensible.

Hmm.. version 1.9. I wonder if there’s a version 2 looked away to be unleashed upon the community, and if so, whether the upgrade has to be paid for if the app is purchased today. As usual, just my two cents… which are going into the pot for tomorrow as I’m a happy user of iNotepad.

Looks good but I’m a total convert to StickyBrain.
Nice price though.

I use StickyBrain & DEVONthink. They’re really different products and I suspect DEVONnote is too. For cross-referencing text or simply long articles, the DEVON products are just head and sholders over SB. SB is great for timed reminders and quickly grabbing short notes though. SB and Yojimbo are competitors. I ready feel the DEVON products are something else (when you want to drill in depth or collect lots of content). Good price MacZot!

Great software and I loved the integration with Services. While I think stickybrain and SOHO Notes are great too, DevonNote does not need to run another database application in the background like Openbase, and it also makes it really easy to backup your notes. DevonNotes, in my opinion, is also better then Yojimbo.

Yes, version 2.0.1 is out, and I’ve purchased it, but the price for 1.9 is still a good deal for the money. You’d certainly get lots of bang for the buck and, I would suspect, you could upgrade to 2.x, if you desired, for a discount. BTW, support from DEVONtechnologies is excellent.

Please excuse the error in the above post. The 2.0.1 version I referred to was for DEVONagent, another fine piece of software from these developers

gryphonent,
Devon is working on version 2 of both DEVONnote and DEVONthink. From what I have heard the new version is going to be a radical change in the database structure with individual files in a package instead of a large database file. I would imagine a change this radical would involve an upgrade fee, but well worth it.
I have been using DEVONnote for most of the year I hope the upgrade comes soon. This program is an bargan at $20.
I mostly use it to save all or parts of web pages as RTF files. The links in the files are live, searchable, and the URL is auotimaticaly included and the RTF file is self titling so it is very quick to save data and move on.
Be sure to download Devon’s free service menu utility HotService to go with DEVONnote. HotService 2.0 moves the Services menu to the top level of the menu bar, next to the Window menu in Cocoa applications.

Nice deal! If I hadn’t picked up Yojimbo a while back, I would definitely be picking up DN!
Any chance DevonTech will offer DevonAgent in future? I for one would really like to pick up DA, but the normal price of entry for DA is a bit high for me.
Cheers,
Rich

I wasn’t going to …
… my Visa bill was high last month
Then I tried it! DevonNote is fast! I have StickyBrain, and the subsequent (Free!) upgrade to SOSO Notes (sic) … no comparison! SB takes ages to start up, DN is just there! The only downside is the lack of palm synchronisation on the DN side, but let’s hope they sort it and offer and upgrade!
So; thanks for day 3. Here’s my 5 quid … just don’t tell the wife!

Going to reiderate what Mark just said. Got an email this morning from Chronos. StickyBrain is discontinued (they’re focusing on SOHO Notes). It will be interesting to see how SOHO Notes improved since the last incarnation, but at that time I upgraded from SB3 to 4, instead of crossover to SOHO Notes, because the latter was far more buggy than the former.
As I said above, SB a different product IMO anyway… but wanted to point out that SB is no more. We’ll see how SOHO Notes, Mori, Yojimbo, etc. all fight it out.
I pulled the trigger and picked up DEVONnotes even though I already have DEVONthink (and SB). Overkill, but the DN feature of making a small Window to move content to (and drag and drop to DT) was worth the $9.

Ric,
“… the DN feature of making a small Window to move content to (and drag and drop to DT) was worth the $9.”
Where is this feature I missed it?

Frank, it’s just the window (especially if horizontal view) can become much smaller than DTs – if in three plane view as I usually use it. It’s less a specific ‘feature’ than something I noticed. Sorry about that confusion. On the feature front though you can have its window stay in front (Windows/Keep in front) which is nice, but requires a large screen. That’s not in DT. Basically using the combo this ways makes DN almost a sub-app that stays open and can be a holding spot for content to be transferred to DT later (if deemed necessary – single notes can be dragged back and forth and keeps title, etc.). It’s like a widget on the desktop. Wish DT included DN now that I’ve been using both for a day, but with this deal it’s not too bad. Hope that all makes sense.

Finally, a DEVONtechnologies ZOT. Can we get DEVONagent now please? Pretty please?
