No thanks. It’s Yojimbo only for me.
November 16th, 2006 at 12:04 am
Really? I like DEVONthink.
November 16th, 2006 at 12:08 am
this looks like KIT to me, only unpretty.
November 16th, 2006 at 12:15 am
…and I’m a mori fan! Looks like there are more than a few options when it comes to this type of software.
November 16th, 2006 at 12:17 am
KIT will do for me, part of one of the many mystery ZOTs. How many different document organizer softs do we need to be offered on MacZOT?
November 16th, 2006 at 12:28 am
DEVONthink Pro for me, even though I also have Mori and KIT.
I still wish someone would update Formation :(
Tried Yojimbo and did not like it, although I like other BareBones programs.
Another program that looks promising, although I have not used it, is EagleFiler.

Not to get off subject, but somebody mentioned Formation. Is Radical Breeze Dead?
November 16th, 2006 at 12:55 am
DEVONthink looks really cool but I have not tried it. I have DEVONagent though and love it.

People here are addicted to complaining. If it’s a mainstream type usage, the program is redundant, and if it isn’t, it’s too specialized. I think some people only come here hoping for the ‘big’ apps like Transmit. Some of us appreciate the balance that they try to strike here at macZOT!, even when we don’t buy daily.

dimebag2, Radical Breeze took over the development of Formation from the original developer (Mekanica). They promised to fix bugs, add features, and come up with a great version 2 for Formation. Formation 2 was supposed to be almost finished, and was going to come out in “two weeks.” That was over a year ago… :(
In July Bryan Lund posted in another forum that he (Radical Breeze) is “shifting its focus away from the Macintosh market”
I think he is still selling software through his website, but he took away the forums probably because he was heavily criticized.
Outside of his websites there are also some comments about him, for example http://phillryu.com/2006/08/03/good-riddance-bryan-lund/
I believe is supporting Mac developers, but I’m embarrassed that I purchased all of Radical Breeze’s programs. I thought Bryan was going to make good on his promises and improve his software based on customer feedback, but I was wrong.

Will, there are certainly many options. Check out http://www.atpm.com/ and look for the About This Particular Outliner (ATPO) column.
It is filled with useful information.

I’m a long-time user of DEVONthink Pro which negates the benefit I would derive from this app. That being said, I still appreciate MacZOT’ presenting of apps that are not consistent repeats. Besides, while this app may not have all the functions of DEVONthink in any of its iterations, the price is certainly reasonable, and for some people, that’s quite important. Thanks, MacZOT!

Oh, and fix the spelling of “recipe,” please. It’s NOT “Receipe.”

I’m with you on that “how many different organizer softs do we need here on macZOT” thing. I guess it gets harder and harder to find good software to sell here.
Again, this reinforces my suspicions and lets me state: I’d rather have one soft a week but *only* real quality software that can be of use to a broad majority of people instead of one soft a day with a lot of useless applications. But maybe that’s just me. And maybe I just have to wait and see since I don’t have to work for the deal, they get delivered to me by the macZOT team.
I do appreciate that the apps are not constant repeats, even when they are very similar in function. The one app I use the most are still Pzizz, AppZapper and KIT.

“I’d rather have one soft a week but *only* real quality software that can be of use to a broad majority of people instead of one soft a day with a lot of useless applications.”
Word, M.Bischoff. I agree. After all, I’m sure Maczot would make a lot more money if everyone bought once a week instead of no one buying ever.

SOHO Notes does it for me. .Mac synchronization and backup, private password-protected notes. It’s the king of these sort of apps.
November 16th, 2006 at 6:27 am
Mmmmm, brushed metal…oh wait, you mean that’s not a good thing? It’s 2006 people. Besides, there are way too many apps in this space already.
November 16th, 2006 at 10:26 am
Why would once a week be better? If there’s one piece of software a week you buy and one a week I buy, why should they be the same thing? Do you think the site would be able to offer better deals once a week? If so, why?

I’m digging KIT right now (zotted) – I checked out Yojimbo, but it doesn’t even seem to handle graphics…did I just somehow miss something there? KIT can handle graphics, zips, dmg’s, web archives – great program…
