And the winner is…

We put our eyes on the 200+ entries over this weekend. We were blown away by the creativity present in all the entries, from 3-year-olds raw creativity to what look like professional artists.

Alas, we had to choose and as we narrowed it down, we allowed the original artist, Mike Biskup, to choose the winner. He had this to say,

"So Incredible!

It’s so fun to see all these works of art. We all made lists of our favorites. We liked different ones! Some blew us away; some freaked us out; some made us laugh; some made us cry.

I liked Frank X Ray, Barney6, Bruner, and a last-minute entry from Paeten_Dykstra-Deschenne (age 6). I was forced to narrow down my list of 15 favorites.

In the end, the folks at MacZOT! let me decide, so Frank X Ray Wins the iPod Nano and 12 free ZOTS! during 2007!

We definitely could have had a few different categories for kids, hand-colored, far-out, etc. Version 2.0 of ColorZOT is going to be amazing."

We’ve all been very inspired by this project and have many new ideas for the new year. Thank you very much for bringing such a quantity of creative juice to this little end-of-the-year project.

We’ll move this whole project to its own space on MacZOT. Follow it and continue to participate. Invite your friends to view the online gallery of all the entries of the ColorZOT 1.0 Coloring Contest. Register here if you want updates to this and more ColorZOT contests:

Tell us who YOU think should have one. Go to the ColorZOT group on Flickr (link from the online gallery above)

I think you have to be a Flickr member to see them, but it’s a fast sign up process, and it’s free.

Thanks to everybody who entered. We have so many great colorings and have some prize offers from great vendors that we’re not done yet. Please stay tuned to ColorZOT!

    ZOT!

Odd, I didn’t see the winning entry in the Flickr pool. My favourite entry was meteor_fox.

This was a really cool contest, and I regret that I didn’t have the time to participate. Ah well, next time. Thanks, macZOT!

Congrats to Frank X Ray, the winner. Applause to all the participants and the collective creativity apparent in the entries.

    Happy new year, everyone!

Good choice for a winner. It would have been nice to have seen categories (hand coloring, computer coloring, going beyond coloring, etc.), but unfortunately there was only one prize.

    Looking forward to more colorzots!

To MacZOT, Mike Biskup, and my fellow contestants:
I don’t know how you decided, MacZOT and Mike. The creativity and variety of all the entries are astounding, and I am grateful for my win. Thank you!

  5. justG Says:

    Congratulations to the additional winners!

  6. Jim Says:

Since seeing the developers involved with the ColorZot I hope that means that their software might be seen on here soon.

  7. Eric O'Brien Says:

For something as fun as the coloring contest (and considering I bet there were many kids participating) I think it is fabulous to add “2nd,” “3rd,” … “5th,” and tenth place winners if you can swing it!

    Good show.

I’m late getting back to this thread. It was fun to see the gallery, which is advertised to be “all the entries.” However, I don’t see one I especially like from early in the coloring period — it was washes of color over the original drawing, i.e., coloring outside the lines.
