No Librarian Pro does not search sites other than Amazon (like bol). If you do want one that has a great range of other sites, best to head to http://www.bruji.com for the superior pedia apps.

I’m using Delicious on a Macbook Pro, and there’s no numeric keypad, so doing ISBN’s by hand is very, very slow compared to the barcode scanning – even if it takes two or three tries to get it to take. I really appreciate that it doesn’t require a dedicated scanner and I can scan using the built-in iSight. That’s not a slight against LP in any way, I just wanted to respond to the previous comment :)

I don”t get what’s so awesome about DL’s scanning option. Sure, it’s nice to play with it, but in my experience, I am much quicker to add the ISBN by hand.
Also, it will fail with or take more than one try with quite a few of my books and records.
And besides that most older books and records don’t have a barcode on them, anyway (at least when it comes to my homeland Germany), so if you’re a true collector who keeps a lot of old things – and why else would you want a database like DL?) – the scanner is of limited use.

IMO, the whole scanning thing is a cool toy and nice to show to other users but no productivity enhancement.

The true killer feature of DL was/is the Amazon completion, and look, LP got it, too.

So in the end it’s matter of taste, I think.

Brian fiddles around and mistakenly gets the old 1PASSWD page up … and you come in and say you’ll give $10 off to anyone here. Man, you SO get what the small Mac dev community is about!

There is another small Mac dev I emailed about them putting their software on MacZot… and they said something to the effect of: “There are a lot of companies who want to package up our software and offer it at a discount. We’re selling plenty now and don’t need to discount it. Once our sales drop off we’ll think about MacZot.”

They SO don’t get it. And while I am amazed when some devs offer a lifetime upgrade policy, I don’t even expect it. I expect that I’ll get to use software through all point upgrades (from 2.3 to 2.4, etc.), but that I’ll have to pay some sort of version upgrade fee when there is a new version released (from 2.x to 3.0). I could kinda understand small devs wanting to limit the discounts they offer if it means that they will never have another opp. to make some money off of a happy user … but no one says you have to offer a policy of “pay once and you can reap the benefits of all of the hundreds of hours I put into this app year after year.” (NOT that I’m knocking it!) :D

So thanks again Carl for being excited about our excitement over your software. 1PASSWD is awesome (I use it many many times a day) and I look forward to seeing MyPasswd!

I have Delicious as well and I have products from Koingo. Koingo makes some good products and has very responsive support, and I appreciate that. This product looks nice but it’s missing the scanning piece that DL has. I don’t have much in DL as yet as I haven’t had a chance to play with it enough. I think I will has to pass on this for now and wait for DL 2.0 to see what new features it has in it.

Hi Carl – Thanks a lot!!! I’m about to go for the checkout but I have 1 question…

If I use it on 2 computers, my main desktop and my laptop, does it still count as a single user license as I’m the same user on both or do I need to get a multi-license?

@Lauram: Thanks, that was a very helpful review of the application. In spite of its shortcomings, I’m still leaning toward supporting its development. Like you, I don’t like the way DL looks, but unlike you, I can’t get past its aesthetic to appreciate its functionality.

@Collin: delicious monster have said that DL 2 will require Leopard, and they expect to release it on the day Leopard is launched. That tells me that it’s pretty much ready to go, and we’re not waiting for DL, we’re waiting for Leopard.
