AceReader Pro is a must for anybody who is serious about improving both their reading speed and their comprehension.

In today’s fast-paced information age, it is more important than ever to be a proficient reader. AceReader will help you and your children read faster while maintaining or even improving overall comprehension.

AceReader helps you break two major bad habits: Subvocalization (pronouncing the words in your mind while you read), and Re-Reading/Regression (letting your eyes wander back to re-read the text).

But that’s only the beginning. AceReader will also help you: Reduce Your Eye Fixation Time (time spent when your eyes are focused on a single point), Expand Your Eye Fixation Zone (ability to read a wider text width when your eyes are focused on a single point) and Increase Your Re-Fixation Speed (ability to reposition your eyes at a rapid rate).

When you master the art of speed reading, the process itself becomes something like watching a movie. You’ll be equipped with the ability to absorb far more material in a shorter amount of time.

**SPECIAL OFFER: Today’s discount applies to both AceReader Pro and AceReader Pro Deluxe. The deluxe version allows up to 5 users, and builds in a number of extra features including Game Editors, Drill and Drill Text Editors, Readability Stats, a Spell Checker, and more. • Real Users Say:

  • “As a speed reading instructor for Certified Learning Centers, I have evaluated many software programs over the years. However, once I found AceReader Pro, I knew I didn’t need to look any further. The program is easy to follow, allows the user to adjust a wide variety of parameters, and reinforces all the techniques critical to becoming an efficient reader. In short, AceReader Pro is a must for anybody who is serious about improving both their reading speed and their comprehension. We have selected AceReader Pro as the software to use in our courses.”- Miriam Ruff, Certified Learning Centers, Silver Spring, MD
  • “Dear AceReader Executives: North Park Academy began incorporating AceReader into our curriculum on a weekly basis last year to much success! The students truly enjoy the “competition” to increase their own reading skills while the teachers can see the results, too. Many students have increased their speed and comprehension by 200 – 300%! We will continue to use AceReader because it works for both the younger and older students.”- Jeff Drozda, Indiana State Senator, COO of North Park Academy, Indianapolis, IN
  • “Acereader Pro is a great buy! As a Reading Specialist and Ed Therapist, I am constantly looking for good tools that I can use in my practice and recommend to parents and students for use at home. Acereader Pro is always at the top of my list. It is a fun, easy to use, kid and parent-friendly, customizable, no-nonsense, workhorse that actually helps improve reading speed and comprehension in as little as 10 minutes a day. I have used Acereader as part of the Bernard EASE reading fluency program for the past six years in private practice, clinics, and school settings, and it just keeps getting better. Kids can’t wait to get to the computer and parents are amazed at how easy it is to use. I have recommended Acereader for kindergartners and lawyers alike! Whether you have a child who is just learning to read or need to get through volumes of text more quickly Acereader is worth the money!”- Alison O’Fallon, Los Angeles, CA
  • “I wanted to let you know that your program ACE READER PRO has been a great help to me. I have been able to increase my reading speed from less than 250 WPM to over 650 WPM. I purchased the program when I was in my second year of law school. Reading faster with greater comprehension helped me finish my law school homework in a timely manner and was especially helpful in getting me through the bar exam. I have used other speed reading programs but I like the Ace Reader the most. Some of the other programs have canned reading. I like the Ace Reader better because you can read any material as long as you can get it on your computer’s clipboard. The results from your Program are fantastic. I plan to practice more speed reading, my goal is to read 1500 WPM or more. Thanks again for your great program.”- Jon Dowat, Attorney at Law, Aurora, IL
  • “I wish that everyone knew just how great this program is for children with visual perception, dyslexia, or other problem. Now with the auditory help, even children with audio perception problems will benefit from the program. Now that my daughter has the ability to sound out words, I know that we will be able to use this program to increase her word perception and speed. I purchased the program last year and am very pleased. I am mentioning this program to all of the homeschool groups that I think would love to know about your program. I am most likely going to purchase the voice add on program. I do want to thank you for developing a program that we can use at home. We would not be able to afford the visual perception help at a visual facility. I also plan to contact our county school district to inform them of this program. Keep making these tools, they are needed! A proud mom of a reading dyslexic child!”- Sharon Yarbrough, South Carolina
  • “Interactive Information wrote: “Being in charge of software selection for a school district is a big chore. Our schools reading scores were down very badly and we were searching for a solution through adding software. We found AceReader on the Web and tried the demo version. It took only a few minutes to come to a decision to purchase it. Since using it daily on a computer with 4th-8th grade students, we see a HUGE improvement in only a 2 week period. By using this piece of software we can see immediately by charting the graphs just how each student is doing and this is recorded as actual grades in the Reading Teacher’s grade book. Another nice feature is that you can use this on one stand alone computer and it goes so quickly you can get a lot of students on it and tested in a short period of time.”- Kevin Gallion, Illinois
  • “I am thoroughly pleased with my new tool, and have been outspoken about it to my friends ever since my wife ordered it for me. (yes, I wore out my 30 day demo first….:-) Terrific concept, and adaptable to your own personal reading preferences. Congratulations to the creator’s of the program. In my small opinion, you did a wonderful job.”- David Dundale, Georgia
  • “I find that reading faster is helping in graduate school. Your speed reader is easy to use and allows me to read the materials that I need to study for class. I am sure that using your program will help me get better grades. I liked being able to download the program so that I could get it immediately. Thanks for having a good service.”- Randy

    1. Eddie Says:

Please tell me there’s a Zotgeist discount for this one.

    2. Rees Maxwell Says:

You can tell the marketing person is also a user of the product: there are just shy of 1000 words in the testimonials … and they think everyone will read them all! :D

    3. James Says:

I love the idea of this program and it does appear to be mature and well supported.

Unfortunately, we have had intel macs for 2 years (more) and still this is not a Universal binary. What’s the story with that?

Also, the interface really sucks in terms of font selection and actually looking decent. I’m going to try it out to see if I can stand it and if it helps (which it probably will) but it will always feel like effort to use it if they do not improve the visual interface of this application.

    4. yngvede Says:

I totally agree with James here: It’s 2008. There’s no excuse for an app not to be UB by now.

And yeah, the interface looks so Winamp-ish :D

    5. gryphonent Says:

Yeah, not UB is a dealbreaker. I can see the next paid-for update on the horizon. No thanks, I’m still bleeding from my experience with Freeway Pro, which I purchased on MacZot one week shy of the free upgrade to version 5.

    6. Eddie Says:

Why are you bleeding from that experience?
Version 5 is not available yet. Softpress has not mentioned what the upgrade prices (if any are applicable in your case) will be. They even posted a lengthy response at MacUpdate. Why not contact them directly?

Back on topic, this program has always been more of a Windows than a Mac program. Unfortunately there are not many alternatives on the Mac.
There’s the free Speed Reading III, as well as Speed Your Read, which I got on eBay.
This one seems to be more complete in terms of features. I’ll continue testing it tomorrow.
By the way, there are also some speed reading exercises on Youtube IIRC.

    7. Tim Says:

An $8 book on speed reading from your local book store will work just as well, I’d suspect – it certainly did for me, since the concepts of speed reading are easy to learn. Like everything, practice practice practice – and I’d prefer to practice my speed reading with the items I read most – newspapers and books. But if you’re a fan of learning on screen, then go for it!

    8. GoMac Says:

I can’t increase the font size – is it me or does the demo lock out the ability to do that?

    9. Eddie Says:

Tim, I agree that books are also good. I do prefer to use software, though, since most of what I have to read is on my screen. IIRC books emphasize some “finger” techniques for speed reading.
Additionally, the software allows me to do various eye exercises, and track my reading rate to see whether or not I have improved.

GoMac, are you in Expert Mode? You have 4 options there to modify the font and colors.

    10. GoMac Says:

Thanks Eddie – no I was not in Expert mode. The fact that you have no control in the other modes is sort of a drag. I noticed the preferences menu is always grayed out, even in the Expert mode, so it doesn’t have the intuitiveness of most Mac programs. I’ll play with it some more– seems like a nice program.

    11. Bernie Marasco Says:

Hello from StepWare (makers of AceReader). I just wanted to provide a quick response to a few comments.

      (1) Universal Binary:

We do understand the need for the program to go Universal. Please know that we are working on it!

      (2) User interface and font selection:

You have full control over font, font size, font color, background color, highlight font color, highlight background color, display mode, screen size/position, margin width, speed settings and much more. The screen shot is just showing you one example of the “Expert Mode” screen.

      (3) Program vs Book:

We feel that this is a good example of where it makes sense to use a program over a book since the program can keep track of your progress and auto-adjust according to your current base reading speed. With the program, you take tests to determine your BRS (Base Reading Speed), then the Drills will automatically pace your reading speed relative to your BRS. Also note, you can use the “Expert Mode” to read and train with material from web pages, documents, email…

Support is a high priority with us, so if anyone has comments, suggestions or questions, please do not hesitate to email us at or call us at 1-800-ACE-READ (223-7323).

    12. GoMac Says:

Thanks Bernie. I ended up Zotting this program and understand now how to adjust the fonts and now see how I can access other controls as well. I know that “subvocalization” is my bad habit that really slows down my reading and this program is already helping me tackle that.
