    About Version 2

    The release of Swift Publisher revealed a great interest in medium level page layout software for Mac. Users often asked us to add a bit more advanced publishing capabilities, while keeping the program intuitive as it is. We hope this balance is met in version 2.

    Particular attention during development of Swift Publisher 2 was payed to publishing functionalities, such as Imposition and Master page options. Of course, we have not forgotten about those of you who asked us for more designs. We believe 20 new designs will help your creativity fly.

    Swift Publisher version 2 is FREE for all users who purchased version 1.x.

    System Requirements: Mac OSX 10.3 or later.

    Available in: English, German.

      I just used SP to make a brochure. It is SUPER easy to use and very intuitive. Highly recommended!

      Every time I see a BeLight product promo I want to buy it, yet each time I don’t. The reason is simple; they typically offer the Standard edition.
      Why not offer the Retail edition on a promo? (I know I can upgrade for $10)

      If/when I see a good deal on Printfolio Retail edition I’ll probably buy it. For now I’ll pass. Swift Publisher is very attractive, but maybe I’ll end up with iStudio Publisher or an iStudio product instead.

    3. achecht Says:

      I agree with Eddie. Last time I saw Swift Publisher in a promo, I wanted to buy it. But then I saw that if I wanted to upgrade to the retail version (which has more templates and images), I’d have to pay and extra $10. That made it much less of a deal for me — such that I’d rather just wait until I have a project that needs it instead of buying it now. Imagine all the sales and money BeLight could have in their pocket today if they were discounting the Retail version. It’s a shame they aren’t.

    4. JaToAc Says:

      is this the standard or retail edition?
      description mentions 24.000 images, that would be the retail edition…

    5. Mary Keene Says:

      @Eddie

      if you go to the web site and check the comparison table, you will find the only difference in the editions is

      1100 vs 24000 clipart
      90 vs 130 templates

      If you re-read the info posted here, you will see that this has to be the retail version.

    6. flec65 Says:

      @Mary Keene
      It still not clear. Although the description matches the retail version, the price doesn’t. The price listed here is for the standard version. MacZOT or developper needs to clarify this situation.

    7. Helen Nersesova from BeLight Says:

      I am sorry for the mess-up. Well, we offer Standard version now. Usually it’s priced at $44.95, today you can buy it only for $22.50. If you’ll upgrade to the Retail edition via download, the full price will be $22.50+$10=$32.50, which normally costs $49.95.

      You can decide yourself which edition suits you better:

      I tried to download and install the trial to see if I could if I could determine if this was Retail or Standard. The install & readme state that 1.8 Gig would be required for a “full clipart install.” However, when I proceed with the install, it states that 82.2 Megs are required for this install. And there is no option available to install more than the default amount of clipart.

      Another reason pointing to this being the standard version. I think that the 24,000 figure made it into this MacZOT by oversight.

    9. Helen Nersesova from BeLight Says:

      This is the Standard version. I beg your pardon for this oversight with the 24,000 instead 1100!

    10. GaryD Says:

      We use this at home. It’s very versatile and easy to work with. (e.g., last year, our second-grader published her ten-page, typewritten booklet with illustrations for a Young Authors school project using Swift Publisher. She needed assistance only with setting up the pages and cover for booklet printing.)

      In my opinion, the standard or retail version pricing through this promo are both good values. There is no functional difference between the two versions of the software itself. The clipart collection in our retail version is massive, but we here at home typically end up using our own images anyway, since the images one chooses are likely to be artistically better-matched to one’s work than clipart might be. The additional templates might be nice to have, but certainly aren’t essential to using the software.

      Thumbs up for this Zot!

    11. pidgeon92 Says:

      I downloaded the trial earlier today, and after trying it out I went ahead and purchased it. Very nice app, similar setup to Pages in iWork.

    12. Robin S Says:

      I see only mention of the 1100 images and 90 templates. That’s the regular version. Did the text change since this morning? I don’t know, but I really like this application. I did buy the extra clip art and I’m glad I did. Some of it is great, some not so great, but there is a lot of it and you don’t always use the whole image. You might just want a portion of it, or you alter it with Image Tricks, which is built in. If you own Art Text, which is also a great Belight program, you can work between the two easily, and like GaryD says, it is so easy to work with. I don’t think I’ve ever looked at the help manual. I use it sometimes just for creating and editing graphics. It’s a helluva deal for $22.50. If you think the extra $10 for the clip art is not a good deal, then don’t buy it. Maybe you won’t feel like you need it. But, you can always upgrade at any time.

    13. John Hall Says:

      Just wanted to chime in and echo what Robin said. I have both Swift Publisher and Art Text and they are both great programs! I’ve been using Art Text to improve some of the buttons and icons in SonicMood and I’m amazed at how easy it is to make nice looking graphics. Wish I’d tried it sooner! ;-)

    14. Eddie Says:

      @Mary Keene,
      Sorry for the late reply. As you can see, it is now clear that it is the Standard edition. This has always been the case in the various BeLight promos as far as I can remember. I’ve noticed since I do like their software and have wanted to buy it. :)
      Thanks to Helen for the clarification.

    15. Keith Says:

      Bummer. Bought this recently at MU for $29.95! Could have saved $7.45 if I waited a week. Grr…
