    This is great stuff!
BTW – what has happened to MUPromo today?

  2. Robin S Says:

    And no Animation-ish … sniff. I mean, I knew it wouldn’t be here, but … well … I was hoping … sniff sniff…

@Matto: I think they are “fixing” whatever was broken yesterday when people couldn’t log in and buy things and all the comments were displaying from “Anonymous.” People can spend their MU time here at the Zot.

  3. Ramin Says:

Cool! Been drooling after ToonBoom Studio for some time now. Integration with Photoshop and Illustrator (and the nice price drop :-) cinched it. I’m planning on using this for building web-site and tutorial material for my apps.

Was tempted by Animate but after running through the tutorials, realized I would use the text tool more than IK, although the special effects (blur, etc) in Animate are awfully nice. Hopefully, they’ll migrate over in future releases.

Thanks to Zot folks for bringing on nice high-end apps once in a while.

  4. C A Says:

I’ve been trying to download the demo version of Animate/TB studio from the developer’s website but I’m getting this error msg:
Database error: Invalid SQL: INSERT INTO xcart_sessions_data (sessid, start, expiry) VALUES( ‘ff071174312b0668813a43a358ad56ca’, ’1234646965′, ’1266182965′)
MySQL Error: 1062 (Duplicate entry ‘ff071174312b0668813a43a358ad56ca’ for key 1)
    Session halted.

Tried many times Using Safari. I also tried Firefox , no luck
I give up : Guys your are loosing sales

  5. Ramin Says:

I got that error too. Session-handling seems to be borked on their end. I quit Safari then restarted and got through OK. Might also try clearing any cookies related to their site.

  6. Kenny D. Says:

Wow – is this most expensive Zot ever?

  7. PSW Says:

I use ToomBoom Studio on a regular basis and it rocks. If you have the budget its probably worth the jump vs the express.

  8. ZOT Says:

    Hi All,

    @Ramin – You’re Welcome!
    @Kenny D – Most expensive ZOT ever? – Yep.

I’ll ask Toon Boom to check the download error out.

  9. Karina Bessoudo Says:

The web site was maybe too busy at the tiem you tried to download the trial. I hop you managed to download it after.

  10. Vince Says:

Sadly, I’ve been trying all weekend to download and I keep getting the duplicate key error. Flushing cookies/cache doesn’t help. I’ve tried registering with a different e.mail address and the same problem. I really wanted to try out this app, but their site has kept me from doing so.

Yet another reason not to require people to sign up to download a demo. If their software is anything like the quality of the website and how it is maintained, I guess I’m glad I didn’t purchase this.

I’d like to hear others’ suggestions on animation apps for Mac. The $499 Toon Boom Animator was what I was interested in; what other apps are there?

  11. John Hall Says:

@Vince: Same problem here, can’t login so can’t download.

  12. ozron Says:

@Vince, @John same here. Looks like they missed out on some potential sales…

  13. paws Says:

@Vince + John + ozron: For the curiosity of issues of yours, I downloaded the Animate_PLE_mac.dmg without any problems at all. :) Unfortunately I don’t think I have time to experiment with the demo though. :(

  14. paws Says:

BTW I’m using iCab with Browser Identity set to “best compability” if that has anything to do with it…

  15. John Hall Says:

@paws: Thank you! I should have guessed it could be my using OmniWeb! I tried with Safari and got in no problem. So I was able to download Studio – don’t know if I’ll have the time to check it out today, but at least I have a chance to. Thanks again!
