“Snard rocks–it’s one of the most useful docklings yet for OS X. In fact,
it’s one of the best utilities for OS X. Just try it and you’ll be hooked, then pay David his $10. He’s certainly
earned it.”
-Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus
“Great product, by the way. Easily worth the $10. After trying fruit menu, max menus and things like prefling, Snard filled the bill and replaced them all more elegantly.”
-Joseph Ferrare

Yeah, I just saw that. :)

I stopped using this software in 2004. Isn’t the latest version from 2007?
I have no interest in trying it, but I’m curious about the searches using Sherlock. From what I recall, Sherlock stopped being supported on Leopard.

Apparently Snard 2.5.3 was released on 21 Aug 2007. So what’s been happening for the past 2+ years Mr Developer? I need a new app launcher as MaxMenus developer is no longer, and it’s partially broken under SL.
Any other suggestions for this style of launcher?
Or is Snard worth it for $5?

Just found XMenu from my fave people at Devon, and best of all it’s free! At least it’s supported and updated. So Gdeonsoftworks, tell me why I should buy your app?

mmm … I don’t know. I’ve been very happy with Overflow. I might consider something else for my work computer, but the inactivity since ’07 is questionable.

@ozron,
If you like Xmenu, I suggest you check out FinderPop
http://www.FinderPop.com/
It is “pintware” and Turly is a great developer. As a launcher I use LaunchBar, but FinderPop will also allow you to quickly access your applications.
Another application I use as a launcher is Application Wizard.

It’s great for launching or quitting multiple applications simultaneously, since it allows the user to create groups.
YouControl is another option as well.

Eddie,
FinderPop is not compatible with SL.

Sorry about that Ray. I don’t have Snow Leopard. I stayed at 10.5.8
It seems that Turly had an accident, but he will work on Snow Leopard compatibility.
There’s more information in his forum.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’ve also got Overflow but haven’t really got into it. Will check out some of the other recommendations as the developer of Snard hasn’t made an appearance here yet.

Snard is a great app launcher but, it is not Snow Leopard ready. Ever since I upgraded to 10.6 (now 10.6.1) Snard has been broken. I contacted Gideon Softworks and they promised to fix it but, so far nothing has changed. Wait for an update before you buy.
