WARNING! I’ve spent more than an hour evaluating this software and have concluded that it is VERY LIMITED. It is impossible to import new records into an existing database structure. That means if you want to bring in any data from a CSV file it has to be into a new database that consists entirely of simple small text fields. Of what use is that? Once a field exists you can’t change its type or you lose all data associated with it. The import dialog has no functional progress bar, no cancel button, and failed to import 562 records in an hour – after which I just force quit. FileMaker Pro v11 imported those 562 records in the blink of an eye. Seriously, before I could depress the start button on my timer! iData3 imported them in about half a second. There’s no listing or table view. No sort function. You can only print one record at a time. You can only delete one record at a time. Seriously, this isn’t worth a dollar. You could probably code this up in Basic in a few hours. If you want something like this go buy Bento or iData. It will cost more, but you’ll wind up with a lot more functionality.
Exactly. All I can add is the more general “I never thought I’d see something less useful/worse than Bento.” Oh! Other features lacking: no Help to speak of other than submitting a ticket on website and can only print one record at a time.
GREAT! I have download iDatabase and I think that are a very great software, easy to use and usefull for my work. I use it also in my iPhone from version 1.0. Also thank for the ZOT Price.
Dear davidfoster – as our technical support has already explained, this is a bug in which the product team is working and hopes to release in a free update as soon as possible. Unfortunately, although it may seem non-intuitive, there are many different CSV file structures, if you want to help us solve this problem, please send us an example of this file. We will examine and implement the necessary measures on imports of code. We thank you for your help and your contribution to improving the application.
